Metallica at CBS Radio’s “The Night Before” in San Francisco (PHOTOS)

With an unsuccessful petition to have Metallica play the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl, metal fans got more than they bargained for with a sold-out show Saturday night before the game at AT&T park, featuring Metallica and Cage the Elephant.

The not-so-cryptic CBS-titled “The Night Before” added to the excitement (and chaos) of Super Bowl City that was already in full effect all through downtown San Francisco. For fans of Metallica and Football, this was a good weekend.

The band powered through a 2 hour set, not attempting to play any material after about 1998.
