Drawing on a combined reverence for reverb, heavy tremolo, distortion, delay and repetition, Disappears play minimal rock music inspired by everything from Kraut to American gospel to punk. Started as a recording project in 2008, Disappears inevitably left the studio – supporting Wire, Deerhunter, Tortoise, German legends Cluster and beyond.
Initially designed to explore the simplicity of early American music and it’s reinterpretation by UK acts of the mid 80’s, founding member’s Brian Case (The Ponys) and Graeme Gibson (Boas, Fruit Bats) started recording demos in search of something familiar but exciting. Eventually the tapes were passed onto Jonathan van Herik (Boas) and new comer Damon Carruesco, completing the group’s line up. Throughout 2008 the band self released a series of 7″ singles and a live album, signing to the Kranky imprint in 2009. Their debut album Lux was released in the spring of 2010. Sans a few early champions, Lux was initially met with little fanfare and went largely unnoticed. Dark and hazy, it showed the band experimenting with minimal arrangements married to the attitude of bands like Suicide and The Fall.

Global hit-maker and superstar DJ David Guetta is ready to make the world dance again with the announcement that he will release his much anticipated 5th studio album Nothing But The Beat (EMI’s Capitol Records) on August 30th, 2011. Guetta has enlisted an all-star cast which includes Flo-Rida, Nicki Minaj, Taio Cruz, Ludacris, will.i.am, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Sia, Timbaland, Dev and more. This is the Grammy award winning DJ’s first album since 2009’s global breakthrough smash One Love which has sold over 3 million albums and 12 million singles world-wide.
Cymbals Eat Guitars released their debut album Why There Are Mountains in 2009, receiving a response that far exceeded the band’s expectations. Two years have gone by since that early hype cycle began, and a lot has changed. Half of the musicians that played on Why There Are Mountains came and went before major touring began, replaced by Brian Hamilton on keys and Matthew Whipple on bass. Hamilton and Whipple joined singer/songwriter/guitarist Joseph D’Agostino and drummer Matt Miller to take the show on the road, finally solidifying the lineup. An official release of Why There Are Mountains on the band’s own imprint, extensive US touring with the likes of Bear in Heaven, Los Campesinos!, and The Thermals; European dates with The Flaming Lips and The Hold Steady; and festival performances including Lollapalooza and Glastonbury kept the band quite busy. All the while, they were using whatever free time was afforded to them to write songs for a planned follow-up.
