Dallas, TX – Fans of many art genres flocked to the Kay Bailey Convention Center in Dallas for 2019’s Fan Expo, which was headlined by the casts of the Back to the Future, Lost Boys, Cobra Kai, IT, The Goonies, and more. Cosplayers arrived in abundance alongside vendors, artists, demonstrators, celebrities, and even robots.
Interview panels were held all weekend by the casts of these films, as well as by the likes of William Shatner, Linda Blair, Finn Wolfhard, Zachary Levi, and even Patricia Summersett (who plays Zelda in Breath of the Wild).
Some of the fun things to gawk at: A clone of the Back to the Future II Delorean, life-sized clone of Luke’s landspeeder from Star Wars, a clone of the original Jurassic Park jeeps, Ripley’s Believe it or Not booth containing artifacts and oddities, VR demo booths, movie quality lightsaber shop, and Drew Struzan himself… signing his iconic posters and artwork from virtually every major film that you’ve ever heard of (his work includes the covers for Star Wars, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, First Blood, E.T., Big Trouble in Little China, Blade Runner, The Muppets, The Thing, Hellboy, The Goonies, and many more).
Peter Mayhew, well-known as Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, was scheduled for photos and autograph signings but sadly passed away just three days before the event began. His booth was still represented however, with a small memorial set up for fans to view and sign a memory book.
We traveled to Dallas this year again to check it all out, so have a look below at some of our coverage from the weekend! All photo by Clay Lancaster.
