After many cryptic (and some not-so) hints on Instagram feeds, Smashing Pumpkins have announced a reunion tour, of sorts, for 2018 titled “Shiny and Oh So Bright”. In the 25th anniversary celebration of their breakout album Siamese Dream, three of the four original members will be back on stage together for the first time in 18+ years: Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha (currently with A Perfect Circle). Notable absent is original bassist D’arcy Wretzky, who has been involved in some media drama recently with singer Corgan about (not) being invited to play on this tour.
Longtime Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will also be joining, having supported Corgan as a member of Smashing Pumpkins since their reformation in 2007. It is not certain who will take bass duties, although Wretzky has stated in a recent interview that the position has been given to Jack Bates.
