Our Favorite Tunes from 2015

It’s that time of year again folks! Happy Holidays.

The 2015 music world had some great offerings, and as we’ve done every year, we wanted to do a recap of our favorite songs. However this list is just my own personal top choices.

What were your favorites? Let us know!

Here wo go:

“Riverman” – Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Let’s get this one out of the way… Noel’s Chasing Yesterday album is the best thing I heard all year. By far.

“The Handler” – Muse. Having just reveled in one of their always-epic live performances last night in Oakland, CA. This track is intense, and the best tune from Drones, in my opinion.

“The Ghosts of Beverly Drive” – Death Cab for Cutie. I wouldn’t even call myself a Death Cab fan. I just think this song was a flawless chunk of pop rock perfection.

“Separation Anxiety” – Faith No More. A welcome return from a badass band. 17 years was too long of a wait, but I did very much enjoy what they came back with.

“Stratosphere” – Mutemath. I’ve held a loyal allegiance to these guys for a long time. They put on one of the best shows I’ve seen, and being a photographer and seeing so many shows, that’s saying a lot. Although this record is my least favorite of their catalog, this tune is becoming one of my favorites.

“Giant Peach” – Wolf Alice. Man, these guys/girl have something really awesome going. Especially for a debut album. Maybe rock n’ roll still lives.

“Doubt” – Vennart. I can’t tell you how happy I am that Mike Vennart (formerly of Oceansize) released a new album this year. And it’s fantastic. This one is my favorite from The Demon Joke so far.

“Run” – AWOLNATION. Aaron Bruno confuses the crap out of me. And I love it. Is it Pop? Is it Metal? What the hell style does this guy go for? Doesn’t matter, as long as he goes for it.

“Cop and Go” – The Dead Weather. Jack White is one of those guys that I admire immensely, yet don’t care for most of his work. It’s strange. But this tune is a giant exception. This slams.

“Lampshades of Fire” – Modest Mouse. Yes, this was all over mainstream radio this year. And I cranked it up every single time.

“Here to Stay” – Bad Rabbits. Love these guys. They’re like an intense, rock version of Bobby Brown. If you ever have the chance to see them play, do it. I’d never seen stage diving at a pop show before. Here’s another slammer for you from 2015.

That about wraps up my list. I could go on with other tracks from the same artists, but these were my favorites of the year. Tell us what yours were!
