Kevin Smith at The Warfield in San Francisco (10/30/09)

This won’t take long. If you ever get a chance to go see Kevin Smith live, go do it. It was one of the most fun I have had at The Warfield in a while.

Kevin has a way of telling a story that makes you feel like you are connected to it. I think that is what makes him an amazing writer and film maker. He tells amazing stories. From talking about his gay Brother’s escapades to talking about Wayne Gretzky at great length, Kevin has a way of making the most mondane stories epic.

I arrived a little late but quickly realized that the table I was at was also the table that Kevin’s Wife Jen was sitting at. Throughout the night you could tell that she was getting a bit unconfortable with the dick jokes that Kevin kept slinging her way….or including her in. After a while you could tell it got to be a bit much because she got up and headed backstage after sharing a drink with some people at the table next to us. I also noticed Adam from “Mythbusters” was sitting at the table next to us.

It was cool to see so many people who share a facination with a man who created one of the best indie films ever made. That film of course is “Clerks” which Kevin tells everyone that Miramax paid a modest $200,000 for.

After 4 hours of hearing about Kevin’s life the end was near. The show ended rather abruptly and people flooded the San Francisco streets. All-in-all I thought the show was amazing. Kevin is one of my favorite film makers and I hope to have him on my show when he comes through again.
