Circa Survive took to their website to announce a fall tour with Sleeper Agent and Maps & Atlases. Here’s the info:
As many of you know, we’ve been at home writing a new album. It’s going so great, however we miss you all a little too much and have decided to hit the road again this fall! This will be our last tour before we record our 4th full length, and will give a chance for us to get out of dodge…maybe even show you a new jam or two!
This past week marked two very notable live sets from tUnE-yArDs. The first was on Thursday at Pier 54’s Hudson River Park in New York City, where they played to upwards of 5,000 people as the sun set, followed by a display of fireworks! It was a transcendent, joyous affair for all involved. No rest for the weary, they more or less ran to the airport shortly afterwards and caught a flight to Chicago in order to perform at the 2011 Pitchfork Music Festival the following afternoon! That performance was singled-out as a standout amongst the many acts who played the weekend-long fest, as noted by The New York Times and a slew of Chicago papers.
When you think of Incubus you think of hard hitting rock anthems like “Meglomaniac” and “Anna Molly.” I don’t think anyone would put the band in a category of rock romance. However, […]

Drawing on a combined reverence for reverb, heavy tremolo, distortion, delay and repetition, Disappears play minimal rock music inspired by everything from Kraut to American gospel to punk. Started as a recording project in 2008, Disappears inevitably left the studio – supporting Wire, Deerhunter, Tortoise, German legends Cluster and beyond.
Initially designed to explore the simplicity of early American music and it’s reinterpretation by UK acts of the mid 80’s, founding member’s Brian Case (The Ponys) and Graeme Gibson (Boas, Fruit Bats) started recording demos in search of something familiar but exciting. Eventually the tapes were passed onto Jonathan van Herik (Boas) and new comer Damon Carruesco, completing the group’s line up. Throughout 2008 the band self released a series of 7″ singles and a live album, signing to the Kranky imprint in 2009. Their debut album Lux was released in the spring of 2010. Sans a few early champions, Lux was initially met with little fanfare and went largely unnoticed. Dark and hazy, it showed the band experimenting with minimal arrangements married to the attitude of bands like Suicide and The Fall.
Oh Weird Al… what can I say? This man has made himself a celebrity on a level almost that of the stars that he parodies. His 13th album, “Alpacalypse” falls right […]
