Barns Courtney – Wonder Ballroom, Portland (REVIEW/PHOTOS)

Barns Courtney brought his UK-inspired alt-rock swagger show from the Supernatural World Tour to Portland, Oregon this week, filling up the Wonder Ballroom on an extremely dreary and rainy Sunday evening.

James Bruner opened up the night with a quick set and the UK trio Yonaka followed before Courtney and his band took the stage just before 10 PM. It was loud and sweaty from the get go, with Courtney moving all over the stage, waving microphone cables around, and getting the crowd clapping and stomping right away with Fun Never Ends. Guitarist Agam Timor also helped rev up the crowd by hopping on top of the stacks during London Girls while ripping out a great guitar solo.

Courtney appeared to have a rather unique taste for mic cables, often draping the cord between his teeth while strumming away furiously at his guitar. After Hands most of the band took a quick break for a furious drum solo session, but a highlight of the night was when Courtney came back and launched into his hit single Supernatural99 and Golden Dandelions also stood out before the band wrapped up the evening with Courtney’s debut single, Fire
