Heart, Joan Jett, and Cheap Trick passed through Northern California at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View as part of their 31-date summer tour.
Cheap trick opened the evening with fantastic energy, and after a quick set change Joan Jett came out to do the same. Loud guitars, loud crowd, and loud anthems to sing along to.
The highlight of the evening however was the headliner, Heart, who played a solid 14-sing setlist and had rarely sounded better. Ann Wilson’s wailing lead vocals were perfect, with “no autotune” as she explained to a crowd that largely grew up on raw skill rather than computer trickery.
Now in their 60’s, Heart somehow sounds just as fantastic as they did 40 years ago. The setlist was full of the hits, which included their famous rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of Led Zeppelin.
