Van Halen performs at the Concord Pavilion, July 9th.

Last night, July 9th, Van Halen plowed through Concord, CA on their 3rd date of their 2015 tour (which included wacky frontman David Lee Roth). The energy was high… especially from Roth, who shimmied and shook across the stage with his trademark cheesy grin the entire set, throwing in a few high kicks here and there.

The guys aren’t in their 20s anymore (well, minus Eddie’s bassist son Wolfgang, maybe) so certain elements aren’t quite where they used to be (some of the vocals, lack of gymnastics, etc) but no matter, as the hit-packed setlist was highly energizing and entertaining. Highlights were the arena-filling “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”, the never-played-live-before “Dirty Movies”, and “Ice Cream Man”, which featured Roth sitting on the stage with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica.
