Caspian Announce Spring US Headlining Tour with special guests Junius and Native

Beverly, Massachusetts’ Caspian is thrilled to announce a full US headlining tour, beginning on February 16th in Chapel Hill, NC at The Local 506 which will include a stop at San Francisco’s annual Noise Pop Festival. The extensive winter tour will showcase Caspian’s new album, Waking Season – released this past fall via Triple Crown Records. Beginning on February 16th, Junius (Prosthetic Records) will join Caspian as their main support until March 2nd. Native (Sargent House) will take over the slot of main support until the tour wraps up at Signal Kitchen in Burlington, VT on March 24th.

The band’s third studio album Waking Season was released on September 25th, 2012. Co-produced by Matt Bayles, (Isis, Minus the Bear, Mastodon), Waking Season is the follow-up to Caspian’s 2009 album Tertia and marks the first time that the band has worked with an outside producer as well as the first time the group has incorporated vocals into their arrangements. Critical acclaim poured in for the record, with Spin dubbing it “The Best Post Rock Album of 2012,” WNYC’s Soundcheck weighing in with “Caspian has honed a musical identity that makes them members of a club filled with similarly moody, orchestral-rock bands like Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor” and Alternative Press calling the new album “a triumph, a huge step forward for a band that should be regarded as one of the best in the genre.”

Since the release of Waking Season, Caspian has kept themselves busy, touring the US with Minus the Bear and Cursive this fall before heading overseas on a two month run through Europe. Shortly after their return stateside, the group headed back onto the road for a handful of Northeast dates with label mates O’Brother and Moving Mountains.
