The Kaiser Chiefs have posted a short statement about Drummer Nick “Peanut” Baines’ departure from the band. The statement reads as follows:
“We can confirm that Nick has decided not to be in the band anymore and that our show at Reading Festival in August was his last as a member of Kaiser Chiefs. Nick tweeted earlier, “I can confirm I have left Kaiser Chiefs after 15 spectacular years. I’m moving on. I wish the band the very best! Ricky messaged Nick, “The door is on the latch and the key is under the mat…” before stating, “We’ve all had a while to get used to it – we’ve got a bunch of shows next year and things are sounding great in the studio”. Simon Rix sent his best wishes to Nick “good luck to @nickkaiserchief with his plans. I can exclusively confirm we will still be collaborating on pints in pubs”. Here’s to you Nick! ”
The band released The Future is Medival earlier this year to mixed reviews. The post mentions more tour dates for 2013 and a quick check of their tour page confirms more dates in the UK, Chile, and Brazil. No US dates have been announced.
