Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet, political activist and System Of A Down front man Serj Tankian has announced an international tour with his solo band, The FCC. The October tour kicks off in London on 10/2 and stops in Germany, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic before wrapping up back in Berlin. A full list of the dates is below.
The tour is in support of Serj’s new studio album, Harakiri, his third solo album to date. In conjunction with the album’s release, Serj premiered the video for the title track, “Harakiri” exclusively on Rolling Stone.com and is now up on YouTube as well. Additionally, Serj had the opportunity to play “Harakiri” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, you can watch the performance here.
“‘Harakiri,’ an infectious celebration of our collective unconscious suicide” explains Serj on the meaning behind his new album. “The message here is as important as the music as seen on the video for the title track – hear it, see it, post it, share it, love it, hate it, own it. We raped the earth yet don’t know why it strikes. Children outcry grandfather sky.”
Additionally, Alternative Press premiered the video for “Uneducated Democracy“ today. The video was created by teens enrolled in a non-profit organization and technology school in Armenia called The Tumo Center For Creative Technologies. Tumo is an after school learning hub in Yerevan, Armenia where teenagers learn animation, video game development, web design, and digital media, in addition to a wide range of supporting artistic, technical and professional skills. Serj is currently on the board of advisors for Tumo and has been a supporter of music production programs at the school. Students that worked on the music video also created a behind the scenes look at how they created the video that can be watched here. Tumo is open to the public, free of charge.
