George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic brought the funk to the Regency San Francisco. (“Legend or Legendary”: this will be the word of THIS review, btw)
Legendary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic paid a visit the The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on the eve of March 21, 2012. Jen (five10 photographer) and myself had our
dream come true of celebrating his 70th birthday in June 2011 with a “Funkathon” of week long performances (dubbed “Funkabration!!!”) at legendary Yoshi’s in SF. George magically continues to let his soul fly high on stage with the marvelous Parliament Funkadelic…
Hittin’ the stage surrounded by the most kaleidoscopic performers and major musical talents in the funk world, Clinton does nothing short of bringing considerable amounts of animated joy and cheerful bliss to his audience with that legendary stanky funk. It can be somewhat humorous and wonderful to watch somebody who my not be so hip to George Clinton’s legacy as the songs keep rollin’ through the set. Those peeps start to actually realize the lengthy list of how many modern day hip hop artists that’ve gained success through sampled Clinton music.
Alongside James Brown, Clinton is considered to be one of the most sampled musicians in history. Due to legal record industry complications and label transitions, George has recorded under his own name, Parliament, Funkadelic and P-Funk All Stars since 1967. Prior, he was a staff writer for Motown in the 1960’s. Clinton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1997 with 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. See where I’m going with this?! George Clinton is a living, breathing, performance and recording LEGEND…
With that said, all in attendance can to nothing but circulate the love that Parliament Funkadelic sends out. With 3hrs of stage time, you are lifted to another planet, transported and gathered in a world of legendary funk…if you are a true lover of music, the experience is undeniable. The music and vibe of George has always brought out freedom, freedom in the audience to be accepted for who they are in all their flashy, glitzy jazzy beings. There is nothing but love in the air and everyone is considered “ONE NATION UNDER THE GROOVE, GETTIN’ DOWN FOR THE FUNK OF IT”…it’s the coolest cosmos…
I highly recommend you don’t miss George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic live ever again, I certainly won’t…a living legend that the world of recording artists and music lovers alike owe endless amounts of respect and admiration to…
