The Vangaurd announce new album out on April 13th

New York-based band THE VANGUARD will release its second EP – aptly titled PLAYTIME! – on April 13th. PLAYTIME! continues to build on the foursome’s unique brand of fun-inducing indie-pop. Eloquent lyrics, big hooks, sing-along choruses and memorable melodies are VANGUARD standards, and PLAYTIME! does not disappoint.

Though THE VANGUARD has established itself firmly as a New York City band, the odds were not in the Big Apple’s favor. Perhaps the most unique characteristic of the band is its varied ethnicities. Aaron Lloyd Barr (vocals) is from Damascus, Virginia. He is joined by David Zawadzki (guitar/keys) of Przemysl, Poland, Rasko Ristic (bass) of Belgrade, Serbia and Luciano Rovner (drums) of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Together they form THE VANGUARD, a band that has truly been able to meld their individual influences and experiences from different corners of the earth into an art form.

Internationally, people have begun to take notice. THE VANGUARD played six noteworthy SXSW 09 showcases and topped it off with an overseas journey to the Exit Festival in Serbia as well as a UK tour. Stateside, their video for the first single, “Both Sides,” has been in rotation on mtvU. Even calls the band buzz worthy due to its “bubbling melting pot of sounds, influences, and ethnic backgrounds.”

Look for PLAYTIME! Which will be released on April 13th, 2010.
